The Keiki Hula
competition has been held every year since 1976 in commemoration
of Queen Lili'uokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawai'i. As
many as five hundred children compete in this special event to
bring skills, talents, grace and outstanding performances of
keiki dancers. This is a true legacy of Hawaiian culture, a
beautiful dance..the art form of hula.
This 90-minute presentation, narrated by Paula Akana, showcases
the top five hula kahiko and hula `auana performances in the
Kaikamahine (Girls' Ensemble) Division, and the top three hula
kahiko and hula `auana performances in the Keiki Kane (Boys'
Ensemble) Division. There are also highlights of the top five
finishers in the Master and Miss Keiki Hula Competitions. Coded
for all regions. |
